PureLevoit Core 600S Review
The Core 600S is the biggest purifier Levoit sells under the Core name: 410 CFM of CADR, a room rating of 635 sq ft, and the same VeSync app as the Core 400S. The question isn't whether it works — it's whether your room is big enough to need it.

We don't run a lab. We went through Levoit's published CADR and coverage figures, the filter specs and owner reviews from open-plan homes, then compared them against the units we've already covered at this size.

Levoit Core 600S
Three stages: a washable nylon pre-filter for hair and lint, an H13 True HEPA layer, and a bed of activated carbon for odors — same chemistry as the rest of the Core line, the difference is air moved. At 410 CFM it turns over a 600 sq ft living room about five times an hour, the rate that keeps pollen and cooking particles from accumulating instead of cleaning up after them. The front panel shows a live PM2.5 number and Auto mode drives the fan off that sensor, so it idles near-silent and spikes when you sear something.

Where it makes sense
The 600S earns its keep in one situation: a large space you can't split — a living room running into the kitchen, a loft, a finished basement. There it does the job of two mid-size units with one filter and one plug. Alternatives at this size are in our large-room roundup; the main one is the Coway Airmega 400 — 350 CFM, rated 1,560 sq ft at two changes an hour, quieter at the bottom end (22 dB) but bigger and heavier.
In a bedroom under 400 sq ft the Core 400S does the same job with the same app; under 220 sq ft it's the Core 300. Extra capacity doesn't clean faster, it just costs more per filter. Our CADR and room size guide does the math in two steps.
Two things to know before you buy
- Filters are the real cost. One filter runs 6–8 months at about 12 hours a day, so plan on one or two a year — the Smoke Remover and Pet Allergy versions cost more than the original, and there are no generics. Timing and warning signs: our replacement filters guide.
- Carbon here is a layer, not a bed. It handles everyday cooking and pet odors, but it isn't the pellet tray in a Winix or the pounds of carbon in an Austin Air, so with daily heavy smoke it saturates fast — see the smoke and odor picks if that's the actual problem.
How to run it
Leave it on Auto and let the PM2.5 sensor work — that's what you paid for. Give it a foot or so of clearance on the intake side, put it near where the air gets dirty rather than in a corner, and leave it running overnight; 24 dB is quieter than a fridge. More in our placement guide.
Verdict
Over 500 sq ft, the Core 600S is the best-value smart purifier Levoit makes and an easier answer than stacking two smaller units. Under 400 sq ft it's the wrong buy — the 400S saves you money at checkout and on every filter after. Brand-level comparison: Levoit vs Coway.

What room size is the Levoit Core 600S good for?
Levoit rates it at 635 sq ft with five air changes per hour, or 1,588 sq ft at two changes per hour. For allergy-season use we'd stay near the 635 sq ft figure — the bigger numbers describe slow, partial cleaning.
Is the Core 600S worth it over the Core 400S?
Only on room size. The filter chemistry, app and sensor are the same; you're paying for 410 CFM instead of 260. Above roughly 450 sq ft the 600S is worth it, below that the 400S is the better value.
How often do you replace the Core 600S filter?
Every 6 to 8 months at around 12 hours of daily use, sooner in a home with pets or heavy cooking. The unit tracks runtime and lights a reminder, and the pre-filter should be vacuumed every few weeks in between.
Is the Levoit Core 600S loud?
24 dB on sleep mode, which is barely audible, rising to around 54 dB flat out — that's noticeable but not shouting-over. On Auto it sits low most of the time and only ramps when the sensor sees particles.
Does the Core 600S need the VeSync app?
No. The physical buttons run everything, including Auto and sleep. The app adds scheduling, PM2.5 history, remote control and voice assistants.
